Rod Boevandrodboev 2260a393f0 fix(#6612): isolate update_channel writes from generic Preferences autosave (#6666) 
Removes update_channel from the generic preferences autosave payload and gives the channel selector a dedicated sequenced write path with FIFO settings-POST serialization and revert-on-failure, so a stale tab cannot silently flip the release channel.

Rod Boev 88c4b9a6b8 fix(workspace): transport server partition rank for workspace sorts (#6066) 
The frontend re-derived partition rank from the serialized type, so FIFO,
socket, and device entries moved into the regular-file partition on non-default
sorts. Emit workspace_sort_rank from list_dir, consume it in the rank helper,
and keep it out of dir_signature.

Add an opt-in setting to hide Transparent Stream's per-event timestamp chips while keeping the response footer time visible, for users who found the per-event chips noisy. Thanks @rodboev. Closes #6099.

Fall back to a copytree (with read-only handling) when the test-server fixture can't create the skills symlink on native Windows without SeCreateSymbolicLinkPrivilege (WinError 1314). Test-infra only. Thanks @rodboev. Closes #6240.
